Coaching in mid-life crises

What is the midlife crisis/crisis

The midlife crisis is a well-known term, but is often used in a joking or derogatory way. As in "Ah he's having a midlife crisis, that's why he's so cranky..."

The mid-life crisis is a serious psychological burden and it does not only affect people in their mid-40s, but is also increasingly being observed in people over 30 years of age. The burdens of those affected are sometimes different, but they all have in common that their quality of life is significantly restricted. Sometimes the crisis can lead to a depression .

The midlife crisis is independent of cultural factors, educational level or social status. What can be fundamentally scientifically stated is that well-being makes a "U" in the middle of life. It drops from around mid-30s to mid-40s and then rises again. And although people's lives are very different, all people over the age of 40 will experience physical changes. For example, the testastorone or estrogen level decreases, muscle mass and hair disappear faster, but there is increased wrinkling and the accumulation of fat.

Mid-life crisis coaching

It is always individual how people deal with stress and perceive it. And of course the triggers are very different, sometimes an illness, sometimes the death of the parents or the birth or even old age. Most people have to rely on themselves or on good friends when it comes to dealing with them, but unfortunately they often find themselves in a mid-life crisis. Often people make up the "problem" with themselves. Everyone in their own way - some try to keep up with young people's demands for attractiveness or start their careers with full power. Others seek refuge in addictions such as alcohol. Increased divorces and crises of meaning often go hand in hand.

Behind the crisis are usually the fundamental questions: Who am I actually now? what makes me special What kind of person do I want to be? How do I deal with my aging?

Especially in the mid-life crisis, coaching offers an effective way to answer the above questions personally and individually and to regain the mental and emotional control power. Because in the end, the emotional acceptance of the answers is crucial and here the way to the answers is often a large part of the goal.

Dealing with the midlife crisis

The midlife crisis has the power to cut us off from our usual resources, leaving us feeling small, insignificant and empty. This is a distressing and uncomfortable state that leaves little room for joy. We first examine your situation in order to get an overall picture. In times of crisis, the field of vision is understandably restricted. Only then is it a matter of finding individual solutions that work in everyday life. In other words, to initiate and consolidate realistic concrete changes in behavior. The role of the coach is that of the companion, the questioner, the resource activating and the methodical guide. We work at eye level and you as a coachee are required to work actively in the process. In the end, only you can find the actual solution, because only you know what really works for you on a daily basis. The coaching methods are very effective and structured and yet individually adaptable. I will help you to start this new chapter powerfully and alive again.
